Caring for the whole person through natural medicine and evidence-informed practice.

Karine Knox-Humbert MNIMH - Consultant Medical Herbalist
Bespoke herbal consultations in East Sussex

Welcome

Meet your herbalist

My name is Karine, and I'm a consultant medical herbalist based in East Sussex. I help people reconnect with their health through the use of herbal medicine, rooted in both traditional knowledge and modern clinical practice.

A few years ago, I faced a health challenge of my own. When conventional medicine had little to offer, I turned to herbal medicine, and it changed everything. The impact on my wellbeing was so profound that it not only helped me heal but inspired me to begin a new career.

After five years of formal study and 500 hours of supervised clinical training, I qualified with a Level 6 Diploma in Herbal Medicine (equivalent to a BSc) and became a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH).

My approach is holistic, evidence-informed, and tailored to the individual. I work with people experiencing a range of health concerns, including hormonal and digestive issues, fatigue, stress, chronic ailments and immune imbalances.

Whether you're looking for long-term support or a gentle nudge back to balance, I’m here to work with you.

I currently offer in-person consultations in Seaford, as well as online appointments.

The role of a medical herbalist

"It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."

  -Hippocrates

Medical herbalists are trained practitioners who use the therapeutic properties of plants to support health and wellbeing. We take a holistic view of each individual, addressing the root causes of imbalance rather than just the symptoms.

Medical herbalists in the UK have studied herbal medicine and conventional medical sciences. They undergo rigorous training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical practice. They are trained in the same diagnostic skills as a GP.

Patient safety and wellbeing are always at the heart of our practice.

We are trained to recognise red flags, refer to other healthcare providers when needed, and work safely alongside conventional medicine.

Using in-depth consultations, we create personalised treatment plans that may include herbal tinctures, teas, creams, diet and lifestyle support.

Every remedy is tailored to the individual, based on both modern scientific research and traditional knowledge.

Members of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) adhere to strict standards of practice, ethics, and ongoing professional development.

Herbal consultations

Your first consultation lasts 60 minutes and gives us the space to explore your health story in depth. We’ll look at your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle and goals to understand the bigger picture. From there, I create a personalised treatment plan using herbal remedies and supportive guidance.
