The role of a medical herbalist
"It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has."
-Hippocrates
Medical herbalists are trained practitioners who use the therapeutic properties of plants to support health and wellbeing. We take a holistic view of each individual, addressing the root causes of imbalance rather than just the symptoms.
Medical herbalists in the UK have studied herbal medicine and conventional medical sciences. They undergo rigorous training in anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and clinical practice. They are trained in the same diagnostic skills as a GP.
Patient safety and wellbeing are always at the heart of our practice.
We are trained to recognise red flags, refer to other healthcare providers when needed, and work safely alongside conventional medicine.
Using in-depth consultations, we create personalised treatment plans that may include herbal tinctures, teas, creams, diet and lifestyle support.
Every remedy is tailored to the individual, based on both modern scientific research and traditional knowledge.
Members of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) adhere to strict standards of practice, ethics, and ongoing professional development.
